Sabbatical: The Holy Pause

I’m currently taking a holy pause from the work of congregational life. This holy pause, or sabbatical as it’s otherwise known, began on January 1st and ends on May 31st. The practice of sabbatical provides both the Minister and the congregation with an intentional time of renewal, rejuvenation, and learning that prevents burnout and helps to make our longer-term ministry more sustainable. As a point of history, Unitarian Universalists are among the first to develop and promote sabbaticals as a valid and valuable practice for both ministers and the congregations they serve.

My charge to you as we move into this time together is to be kind to each other; to listen more than you speak; and to trust the wise leadership that exists in this congregation. I care deeply for each one of you. I will miss you. I love you.

Be well my friends until we meet again.

Blessings,

Samaya
